New Bylaws For Queenstown Airport
September 09
Queenstown Airport’s new Bylaws will apply from 24 September 2009.
The Bylaws set out a wide range of rules for the use of Queenstown Airport. The Bylaws cover all users of the Terminal, the Airport’s roads and parking areas, gates and aprons. Other Airport related matters are also dealt with, including the Airport’s responsibilities for lost and abandoned property, commercial photography and filming on Airport property and the bringing of animals to the Airport.
The Bylaws enable Airport Users to see the Airport’s rules in one concise and comprehensive document. Previously, the rules regulating the Airport were contained in a range of legislation, regulations and Civil Aviation Rules.
The Bylaws also allow the Airport to enforce compliance with its traffic and parking signs by issuing infringement notices. From 24 September 2009, the Airport will have the option of issuing parking tickets to motorists who fail to comply with parking and traffic signs. CEO, Mr Steve Sanderson said “To date, the Airport has not issued infringement notices, and frankly, this would be our preference. Unfortunately, some people take advantage of our pick-up & drop off areas, and in some cases our reserved disability parks.” Sanderson also commented “The 20 minute free parking in the main car park area will continue, and the first hour parking charge is $4.”
A copy of the Bylaws can be obtained from the Airport’s Administration Office or online at www.legislation.govt.nz.
