Two New Additions to Queenstown Airport
May 09
The Airport is delighted to welcome Patagonia Chocolates and Outside Sports Booking Facility, both opening in the Terminal in June 2009.
Outside Sports
Outside Sports, the outdoor company that boasts Queenstown & Wanaka’s largest adventure stores, will be offering a new booking facility for ski & board rentals right in the heart of Queenstown Airport Arrivals this Winter.
From the 15th June arriving passengers will be immersed in the magical Winter snow experience at the Airport – from the corridor of snowflakes & fairy lights to the skis & snowboards on the Outside Sports racks. “We hope this will be a fun way for arriving visitors to get into the feel of Queenstown’s Winter Wonderland from the moment they step off the plane” said Liz Cox, Outside Sports General Manager. “Potential customers coming off those planes will be able to enjoy the convenience of booking their ski itinerary & snow rentals service before their first coffee in town!”
Outside Sports will also be offering a small retail presence of pure merino Icebreaker alongside their ski rentals booking desk – this will complement the full range of this globally renown Kiwi products that they currently retail from the Touchlab Icebreaker store at Queenstown Airport. Focussing on hats, gloves & scarves they will be kitting out new arrivals, who may not have anticipated local temperatures, with last minute winter warmers!
Patagonia Chocolates
Visitors to the Airport will enjoy a sweet welcome from 22nd June, when Patagonia Chocolates and Gelatteria opens its third store at Queenstown Airport.
Patagonia is known for its signature chocolates, real-chocolate hot chocolate and superb coffee. Owned by Alex Gimenez and Lorena Gialloanardo, both originally from Argentina, Patagonia has been operating in Queenstown and Arrowtown for four years. Alex and Lorena specialise in chocolate making and have an amazing range of flavours, from the traditional to the extreme – such as chilli chocolate and wasabi chocolate!
Italian fridges will be in place in time for the busy summer months so that passengers can indulge in handmade icecreams while they wait for their flights.
