Queenstown Airport ready for marathon weekend
It’s been a busy day today at Queenstown Airport as we welcome runners and supporters to Queenstown for the New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Queenstown Marathon. Despite international borders being closed about 10,000 participants have entered across the four events.
Mike Clay, General Manager Operations and Safety said: “Marathon Weekend is always a busy time for us and this year is no exception, despite COVID-19 border restrictions,”
“It is great to see so many Kiwis getting behind the event this year and coming to enjoy this beautiful part of the world.”
This year there are 172 domestic arrivals and departures scheduled over Marathon Weekend (Friday 20th to Monday 23rd November 2020).
Last year there was a total of 262 aircraft arrivals and departures over the four-day period from Friday 15th to Monday 18th November 2019, including 200 domestic movements and 62 international movements.
“We’d also like to remind people that there will be road closures in place on Saturday and it will be a busy few days at the airport so please allow additional time if you’re travelling over the weekend,” said Mr Clay.
