Queenstown Airport ready for the festive season

Queenstown Airport is ready for a busy few weeks as Kiwis travel to connect with loved ones over the festive season.  Although the international borders remain closed, Queenstown Airport is all set to welcome and farewell domestic travellers over the holiday period.

As we head into the festive season here’s a festive message from the Queenstown Airport team.

Queenstown Airport parking promotion kicks off on Christmas Eve

The Queenstown Airport Park and Ride service has been ‘in hibernation’ since April. 

Jessica Watson, Commercial Manager said: “Because Park and Ride is not available at the moment we have introduced special parking rates at Queenstown Airport’s terminal carpark B to make travel arrangements easier and more affordable for members of the Southern Lakes community heading off to explore New Zealand or visit whanau over the coming month,”

“Prior to COVID-19 the Park and Ride service was well used, and we know that for many people in the region, particularly those coming from a bit further away, it was a welcome and convenient option.”

The parking promotion is available between Thursday 24 December 2020 and Monday 18 January 2021 in carpark B only and is offered on a first come first served basis.  Carpark B bookings cannot be made online however availability is updated in real time and can be checked online.

Important information for travellers

  • Queenstown Airport is at COVID-19 Alert Level 1. 
  • Give yourself more time. From check-in to boarding, please be prepared for things to take a little longer than usual, so please give yourself plenty of time to arrive and get through our airport.
  • Access to the terminal is open to the public, including meeters and greeters. We ask that you observe the Alert Level 1 protocols.
  • Under Alert Level 1, the use of a face covering/mask when in the terminal is based on personal preference.
  • The use of a face covering/mask remains mandatory when travelling on all flights.  You can use your own mask. The airlines will provide passengers with disposable masks.
  • Anyone entering the terminal is asked to sign in using the NZ COVID Tracer app.
  • Maintain good hygiene and please use the hand sanitiser stations around the terminal. Rubbish bins for the disposal of face masks and tissues are available throughout the terminal.
  • The airport terminal opens 2 hours prior to the first domestic flight and closes 30 minutes after the last domestic flight.
  • If you or someone you are travelling with is not feeling well please do not travel and please do not enter the terminal.
  • PayWave and card payments are encouraged throughout the airport.
