Spring Snow causing flight disruptions at Queenstown Airport
No flights are operating in or out of Queenstown Airport at the moment as a result of weather conditions. 3-5cm of snow has fallen at Queenstown Airport today and clearing is underway on roads and footpaths near the terminal and on the runway.
Mike Clay, General Manager, Operations and Safety said: “Snow started falling early this morning and there have been a number of flight cancellations or diversions as a result. Snow clearing has been underway for a few hours now. We expect flights to resume mid-afternoon,”
“If you’re travelling today please check with your airline for up to date flight information. We will post updates on our website and social media throughout the day,”
“Today, being the first day of the school holidays, meant that a lot of people were planning to travel and we really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. We are working hard to clear the snow and for flights to resume as soon as possible,” said Mr Clay.
Please check the Queenstown Airport website or social media for updates and take care when travelling to and from the airport today.
