Queenstown Airport proudly connects our home with Aotearoa New Zealand and the world. We operate world-class infrastructure, provide strong aviation networks and strive to deliver experiences beyond the expectations of our customers and communities.

The Position

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this is a varied, hands-on role providing maintenance support across our airport facilities, buildings, grounds and assets. No two days are likely to look the same – you could be responding to an urgent maintenance issue, carrying out preventative maintenance, completing minor repairs and improvement works, inspecting facilities or working alongside contractors and the wider Facilities & Assets team.

You’ll play an important part in keeping our airport safe, functional and running smoothly, helping us deliver on our vision of being an innovative airport that people love to travel through and our community takes pride in.

Key responsibilities

  • Undertaking reactive and preventative maintenance across airport facilities and assets

  • Responding to maintenance requests, troubleshooting issues and finding practical solutions

  • Completing minor building maintenance, repairs and improvement works, which may include grounds maintenance, basic carpentry, plumbing and painting

  • Carrying out routine facilities inspections and identifying maintenance requirements or defects

  • Responding promptly to urgent maintenance issues to help minimise disruption to airport operations

  • Maintaining and inspecting designated airside assets

  • Working alongside contractors and suppliers to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently

  • Building strong working relationships with tenants, contractors, suppliers and the wider QAC team

  • Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with our airport, airside and safety requirements

About you

We’re looking for someone who is practical, adaptable and self-motivated. You’ll be comfortable getting stuck in, using your initiative and taking ownership of maintenance work from identifying the problem through to finding and delivering a solution.

You’ll bring a strong commitment to health and safety and customer experience, along with:

  • 3+ years’ experience in building, property or facilities maintenance

  • Strong practical problem-solving skills

  • The ability to work independently and juggle competing priorities

  • Practical trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing or painting would be a bonus

  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people

  • A full drivers license

  • Knowledge of building compliance requirements would be advantageous

  • Experience using a Building Management System (BMS) or Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) would also be an advantage.

Why work for us?

  • Southern Cross Health Insurance

  • Comprehensive Whānau Policy

  • Training and development opportunities

  • Annual 'Get Active' subsidy to support wellbeing

  • OCP - Counselling Programme for employee's and their Whanau

  • Birthday Leave

  • Onsite parking

  • Long service recognition (5, 10 & 15 years)

  • Opportunities to volunteer for community activities and events

  • Gold Pride Pledge Supporter
