A terminal that puts people first
We are excited to have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to expand and redevelop our terminal to create a world-class facility worthy of our beautiful setting.
Our current terminal consists of multiple individual buildings that have been incrementally added or integrated over many years. It is now inadequate for a modern international airport welcoming thousands of people a day.
Leading architectural firms Warren & Mahoney and Hassell are helping us develop a concept plan that will significantly elevate the traveller experience – improving comfort, flow through the building, and operational efficiency. We want to create a terminal that is welcoming, intuitive to navigate, and deeply connected to our iconic landscape.
This programme of work will also include upgrades to back-of-house facilities, check-in, baggage handling, and security screening.
We’ll continue to engage with our iwi partners, airlines, tenants, and operators throughout the design and delivery, sharing updates as project details are agreed.
Keeping the airport moving
Construction will be staged to minimise disruption. We’ll provide clear wayfinding, temporary routing, and regular updates ahead of each phase.
