Filming at the airport

The privacy and security requirements of our visitors to Queenstown Airport are extremely important to us. To ensure a safe and comfortable experience for them and to help facilitate a successful film/photo shoot for you, written permission must be granted by the Queenstown Airport Corporation (QAC) before any filming occurs on airport land.  If you are travelling internationally with film equipment please ensure you have the correct paperwork (essentially a passport of goods) to be able to bring it into and out of New Zealand.

Queenstown Airport Corporation Filming Policy

If permission is granted, QAC will assist in negotiations with the airport border agencies, airlines and any other affected parties on your behalf.

News media wishing to film ‘landside’ (before security screening) will be granted permission immediately provided the request meets QAC guidelines. Please contact the Corporate and Community Affairs team directly on +64 27 839 6258.

For all other filming requests, a minimum notice period of 1 week is required. For film/photo shoots over 4 hours in duration or for requests necessitating QAC staff resources, a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice is required.

Indicative Location Fees

The type of filming and scale of the production will determine the location charges to be applied. The Aviation Security Service (AVSEC) and border protection agencies NZ Customs and the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) may also impose charges depending on their requirements.

The charges below cover the use of the airport, both landside and airside, and are subject to change at any time. If staffing or equipment resources are required to supervise a production or provide airside access, additional costs will apply and will be advised upon application.
