Whether you're planning a small photo shoot or a large-scale production at Queenstown Airport, you must seek permission in advance of your visit. This will allow us to plan for your filming, ensuring day-to-day operations can continue smoothly and safely.
Approval to film might also need from the various airlines, general aviation operators, government agencies and other organisations operating at Queenstown Airport.
Depending on the project you are proposing, there may be fees for filming at the airport, which will be discussed with you after we receive your request.
For operational reasons, we may need to decline requests to film at the airport. Please contact us well in advance to avoid any disappointment.
Commercial filming
All commercial filming requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Due to the nature of our operations, we have privacy and security requirements to ensure everyone visiting or working at Queenstown Airport has a safe and enjoyable experience. All commercial filming requests require a minimum notice period of 10 working days. The more complex the request, the more notice that is required.
Indicative location fees
The type of filming and scale of the production will determine the location charge to be applied. Other affected parties, such as border agencies or the Aviation Security Service, may also impose charges, depending on their requirements. The charges outlined below cover the use of the airport, both landside and airside, and are subject to change at any time. All costs associated with production, such as staffing or equipment, will be on-charged. This will be advised during the application process.
