2023 ZQN Master Plan

02 Feb 2026

Our plan for an airport that showcases the very best of our region, and one that we can all take pride in. The ZQN Master Plan focuses on the infrastructure needed in the coming decade, while making provision for the decarbonisation of aviation and other infrastructure needs beyond 2032.

CREATING AN AIRPORT TO BE PROUD OF

Our mission is to proudly connect our home with New Zealand and the world. Our vision is to be an innovative airport that people love to travel through, and the community takes pride in.

We are pleased to present a Master Plan to deliver on that aspiration. The plan focuses on the infrastructure needed in the coming decade, while making provision for the decarbonisation of aviation and other infrastructure that will be needed beyond 2032.

Before individual projects begin, detailed precinct planning will be undertaken to test the assumptions made in the master planning process and ensure each precinct is technically, operationally and financially feasible. It will also help establish the staging for the airport development.

The Master Planning Process

Consultation on a draft version of the Master Plan began in May 2023 and involved an extensive community engagement programme, as well as meetings and workshops with airport stakeholders. Feedback was carefully analysed and incorporated into the final plan, which was endorsed by shareholders before approval by the Queenstown Airport board in December 2023.
