Assistance FAQs
Can I request a wheelchair at the airport?
You can request a wheelchair, but you must arrange it through your airline, not directly with the airport. Airlines typically require this request to be made in advance (usually at least 48 hours prior) via booking, online portal, or phone.
Is wheelchair assistance available from the car park to the terminal?
The airport features dedicated mobility parking spots right outside the terminal and in Car Park A, but wheelchair assistance from the car park to the terminal must be arranged via your airline, not provided by the airport.
Where can I find accessible toilets?
There are multiple mobility accessible toilets throughout the terminal, including designated gender-neutral accessible facilities. Upgrades to the domestic departures lounge include new male/female blocks and a parenting room.
Can I travel with my assistance dog?
Queenstown Airport advises that all animals must remain in their crates within the terminal. You can walk animals in the designated garden, but they must be kept on a lead. Recognised service dogs are exempt from this by-law.
Does Queenstown Airport support the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme?
Yes, Queenstown Airport actively supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme. Staff are trained, and free lanyards and cards can be collected at the Information Desk (open 08:30 to 17:00 daily). The scheme discreetly identifies passengers who require additional support.
Can I bring medication on board the aircraft?
You can bring prescription medications in both solid and liquid form, even if liquids exceed the standard 100 ml limit for an international flight. Please declare them at the security screening. For any further information, contact your airline directly.
Can I travel with my own mobility equipment?
Please notify your airline in advance to ensure a smooth experience through check-in and boarding.
How long will it take to get to the gate?
Queenstown Airport is compact with a single-level terminal and 9 gates, so journey times from check-in/security to gate are typically short (a few minutes).
From the curb or car park: You are only a minute or two from the terminal entrance, and internal walking distances to gates are minimal.
