Before you travel

Queenstown Airport does not manage airline pet policies or animal transport requirements.

Before travelling, passengers should:

  • Check directly with their airline for pet travel rules, fees, and crate requirements

  • Confirm any documentation required for domestic or international travel

  • Allow extra time at the airport, as travelling with pets may take longer than standard check-in

Airlines may have different rules for pets travelling in the cabin, in the hold, or for assistance animals.

International travel and assistance animals

International travel with pets is subject to strict biosecurity and border requirements, which are not managed by the airport.

Passengers travelling internationally with pets or assistance animals should contact their airline in advance to confirm:

  • documentation requirements

  • handling procedures

  • any airline-specific conditions.
