What our Toitū carbonreduce certification means

01 Jul 2022

We are proud to be Toitū carbonreduce certified, an achievement that highlights work we've done since 2019 to reduce our environmental footprint. The certification means we have accurately measured greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, put in place initiatives to reduce them, and are seeing real results.

At Queenstown Airport, sustainability is one of our core business foundations. It guides the way we think, the decisions we make, and the way we do business.

We are proud to be Toitū carbonreduce certified, an achievement that highlights work we've done since 2019 to reduce our environmental footprint.

The certification means we have accurately measured greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, put in place initiatives to reduce them, and are seeing real results.

Since 2019, we have had a 31% reduction in GHG emissions, showing real progress towards our goal of net-zero emissions by 2040.

We’ve recently updated our sustainability strategy, which covers three pillars: People, Planet and Prosperity.

A key piece of work that has been identified in our sustainability strategy is our decarbonisation roadmap. This roadmap, which we like to call our Runway to Net-Zero, will guide us to achieve our emission reduction goals.

A key milestone our Runway to Net-Zero outlines, is to achieve Toitū net carbonzero certification in 2023. This certification will mean not only do we measure, manage, and reduce our emissions, we also offset the through the use of carbon credits.  Our use of offsets is intended to mitigate the impact of our emissions while we work to eliminate them over time.

Working with Toitū not only keeps us accountable but helps us set targets across the business to achieve our goals each year.
