EV Charging FAQs
What kind of EVs can charge at these stations?
Any plug-in electric vehicle that has a Type 2 charging port or adapter.
What type of chargers do we have?
We have six Tesla Destination chargers. These chargers are compatible with any electric vehicle that has a Type 2 charging port or adapter.
Where are the chargers located?
All six chargers are located at the front corner of the terminal car park. View our Terminal Parking Map here.
What is the power output of the chargers?
All chargers are 22kW. However, when all chargers are in use, you may note a slight reduction in charging speed due to load sharing. Additionally, not all electric vehicles can draw the full 22kW. You should check with your vehicle manufacturer for advice on this.
How much does it cost to charge using a Queenstown Airport charger?
For now, our chargers are free to use. However, standard parking rates apply. View Queenstown Airport terminal parking rates.
Who do I call if I notice a problem with, or damage to, the EV chargers?
Please report any faults to us at the Airport Information Desk located within the Queenstown Airport terminal. You could also email us your feedback.
Can commercial vehicles use the EV chargers?
Yes, the EV chargers are designed for all road users; however, normal parking fees will apply.
Is there a time limit on parking at the chargers?
Yes. Our chargers have two different time limits. Two of the chargers are P120, designed for use while dropping off or picking up at the airport. Four chargers are P72h and are designed for weekend and short stays only. We ask that users not exceed these time limits.
Cars are exceeding the parking limit. What can I do?
We regularly monitor the car parks and may take action if vehicles overstay through parking infringement notices.
Do I need an account to use the Queenstown Airport chargers?
