Duty Free Shopping
Tax and Duty Free shopping is available to all arriving international passengers. Enjoy taking your time checking out the great range of local and international products at Aelia Duty Free store - located just inside the Arrivals Hall.
If you're unsure what the duty free allowance is for New Zealand you can find out here.
Anyone travelling to New Zealand by air must complete a New Zealand Traveller Declaration prior to check-in.
You can start this declaration 28 days before your flight and you should submit your declaration as soon as you have your pre-departure test result, so there is time to verify and review your documents before your flight.
Completing this declaration will provide you with your Traveller Pass, which will be emailed to you.
Your Traveller Pass will contain a unique QR code and will be valid only for the journey you completed the declaration for. It will contain information about what you need to do when you arrive in New Zealand.
You will need to show your Traveller Pass when you check-in for your flight to New Zealand, and at Customs on arrival in the country. This could be printed or saved on your mobile device.
You can find more information on the Traveller Pass here.
For security reasons you must keep your phone switched off until you have cleared Customs.
Random temperature checks will be undertaken by Public Health Medical Officers when international arrivals clear Customs.
To collect your luggage, follow the signs to the International Baggage Reclaim area.
Trolleys are provided free of charge for your convenience. Your bags will be delivered to Carousel 2 or 3 so look out for your flight number on the screen. Larger items such as bikes, skis, golf clubs and buggies will be available at the Oversize area next to the carousel.
If you’re missing an item, please ask an airline agent in the bag claim area or phone your airline’s Baggage Services number.
Anything to declare?
Your next step is a Biosecurity NZ check so please have your PAC card ready to hand over (no need to show your passport).
It’s really important that you’ve read and filled the card out carefully and answered truthfully about what you are bringing into the country because there are severe penalties for non-compliance.
Once you and your bags have been processed, you’re free to exit into the main terminal.
If you need to make a phone call, a public phone is located next to the storage lockers outside the check-in area. For airport-related enquiries, visit the Airport Information Desk.
Being picked up?
Make your way to the pick-up zone located in the first 5 rows of the public car park in front of the terminal building.
Picking up your rental car?
Here’s a list of rental car operators at Queenstown Airport and their locations in relation to the terminal. If you have booked with an operator that is located off-site there is a freephone located just outside of the main terminal beside the storage lockers.
Other transport options
Buses, airport shuttles, taxis and limos are all lined up outside the terminal, ready to go. Taxis and Airport Shuttles offer door-to-door service and the public bus comes through every 15 minutes.
Travelling with petsIf you're travelling with pets, please be aware of, and respect the airport's rules. We respectfully ask that you be mindful of other passengers and our airport working dogs at all times, and follow any staff guidance.Your furry friends are allowed to be outside the terminal building in the public area provided they're on a leash. However, for health and safety reasons and the well-being of our working dogs, no pets are allowed inside the terminal unless they are being checked in for cargo transport or are guide/mobility assistance dogs.During the check-in process dogs must be on a leash at all times and placed in their crate in a timely manner. When you’re picking them up from the airport we know they’ll be excited to see you but the baggage carousel is a busy area so please keep them in their crate until you exit the terminal building.
Picking up travellers
There’s no need to rush in and out of the airport - we offer 10 minutes’ free parking in the designated pick up/drop off zone.
All you need to do is take a ticket at the barrier arm when entering the car park and park in the pick up/drop off zone located in the first 5 rows of the public car park in front of the terminal building.
If you’re parked for less than 10 minutes, there’s no need to validate your ticket – just insert it into the barrier arm machine when exiting.
If you stay longer than 10 minutes, simply validate your ticket at the Paystation or insert at the barrier arm and use the credit card tap and go when exiting.
