We've previously announced our plans to create a covered dining area outside the new Fuel to Fly cafe, which will incorporate a full-service container kitchen, allowing a broader range of menu options. We will also install additional seating in the forecourt.
This will happen in the New Year but to make it possible, we need to relocate the smoking area and the Food on the Run caravan. Work on this will be done in two stages, beginning this week.
First, a new smoking area will be established behind the taxi shelter. The new area will be similar to the current one, with three seats, and planting to screen the space from the rest of the forecourt.
A new location for Food on the Run will then be created between the terminal and the main lawn.
During these projects, the construction areas will be fenced off and there will be some disruption to the forecourt walkways. The maps below show where the fencing will be through these initial stages. The works will generate some noise and disruption. However, we are working with our contractors to ensure this is minimised and kept to as short a timeframe as possible.
We are proud of the green spaces we have around ZQN, and will replant or replace as many of the disrupted plants as possible. We also have plans for some new flower beds and green areas across the forecourt, so watch this area in the coming months!
